Default NRTLQ - ericsson acquires nortel asset for 1.13 Bln

Ericsson Acquires Nortel’s North American Wireless Business for $1.13B

Ericsson AB (NASDAQ:ERIC) has announced the acquisition of the wireless- equipment unit of the insolvent Nortel Networks Corp. (OTC:NRTLQ), relating to CDMA and LTE technology in North America, for $1.13 billion on a cash and debt free basis.

I think this stock will jump on july28th after court approves the deal.

    Keep checking this one.

US and Canadian courts are scheduled to review the auction results on Tuesday and Ericsson said it expected the deal to be approved. “We cannot see any reason why it should be rejected,” Hans Vestberg, chief financial officer, told the Financial Times.

I too am not understanding the logic. Are you saying that when a company buys another, the stock of the bought company usually increase in value? Wouldn't they somehow become absorbed and obsolete leaving the common shareholders a$$ed out? How should I be reading this?

It doesn't make much sense to me either. I think the time to make money on buying Nortel stock is over. I bought some Nortel @ .08 right after they declared chapter 11 for what I like to call the "bankruptcy bounce" (trademarked, lol). I held it till it reached .26 and then dumped it when they started selling off some of their more valuable assets and little by little they sold more off. Now that it looks like the deal with Erickson will go through, I cant see Nortel lasting much longer (to be honest I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did).

    Default Ok ?

I just have to ask, why and how do you think this will be good for Nortel?

Even if they do find someway to come out of bankruptcy at the rate they are selling off assets (most recently the sale of their best wireless assets to Nokia and now the Erickson deal for their carrier networks) what will they have left?

Well there is no logic behind ctic crossing $1, or cbis crossing $1 or biel crossing $0.07, wamuq was bought was chase, and once it was trading on $0.01 but few week back it was trading on $0.12 so at the end of day only profit counts and i think NRTLQ will cross atleast $ 0.30 if the court approves.
Finally only logic that works in this volatile market is right entry at right price to make profit.
