    Default DYAX vs SOMX

I have a position with SOMX...

I have hopes that the new efficacy data that was requested in the follow up meeting with the FDA will meet their expectations.

This seemed to be a fairly benign requirement for the FDA and the fact that they actually held an in person meeting with SOMX was encouraging. Their re-submitted data showed efficacy for a period much longer than the FDA required. So...All we can do is wait...You never know with the FDA.

DYAX seems to have some promise also. I think the FDA has some concerns with the chemicals used in their compond. Do you know if their REMS has been approved. I didn't see anything on that drug's REMS approval on the FDA site. That would definitely be encouraging.

Somaxon's Silenor I believe will have a more far reaching market impact due to the commonaity of the condition that its addresses vs. the DYAX.
But they both have good potential.

Nicely said....I believe Somx would have a greater increase (short term) reasoning behind it is that I believe that all the underlying issues in regards to the CRL has been addressed.....and if this get approved, I don't see why not.. the market cap would increase to at least $200 MILL that puts this stock at round $8 -$12 dollars par share ... If it does happen it makes for a very merry christmas i might add.

    Default SOMX vs DYAX

    I couldn't agree more...

I think your projections on the initial share price are fairly accurate. But I believe this will be more so the result of the FDA decision and not on anything more than the excitiemnt surrounding it. Case in point (VNDA) However, if a BIG Pharma player signs on upon (or shortly after) approval, I think the share price could rise even further. Somaxon does not have the resources to bring Silenor to market and most investors know this, so the initial bounce would be tepid (comparitively speaking). But once they know that there will be a legitimate means to bring Silenor to market, it will add fuel to the FDA approval fire. But...1st things first. We need an approval!

Personally I am in DYAX. I see 3 major positives for this stock:

    - The Phase 3 tests were made under a special assessment protocol, which usually increases the chances of approval

    - The drug has orphan drug status, meaning no competition once it is approved (and thus almost certain sales).

    - They diluted a bit early October and this made the stock tumble from the low 4s to the low 3s, giving me a good entry point (it has started climbing back up already, so get in quick if you want to ride that one).

Someone made a much more complete post in another thread: http://www.favstocks.com/forum/hot-s...-time-get.html

I must say that I didn't follow SOMX closely, maybe I would be in that one also if I had because it looks good too.
