Trading has been halted this morning. The trial wrapped up yesterday so a verdict or last minute settlement is on tap for today.
Update 3/16/10: Reported that VHC has won the patent infringement trial against microsoft.
Bear Raid hit VHC this morning dropping ti 32% in minutes, currently almost full recovered, down 1.5%.
as I moted in another thread the VHC vs Mircosoft trial for patent infringement is schduled for this Monday (March 8th, 2010) in Tyler, Texas. Each side has 14 hours to present their case, Hundreds of millions are on the line.
It doesn't effect this case at all, but the judge in the VHC vs Mircosoft case did rule against Mircosoft last year in a patent case to the tune of $200 plus million.

VHC was up at one point about 35% this morning and now sits on a 11% gain on news they won their patent infringement trial against Microsoft.
The jury awarded $105 million to VHC
A finalized ruling from the judge is still to come which could (likely) tack on millions more, and is possbile it could eclipse the $105 million by 3 times that amount (more likely to just double though). VHC now also has legal precedent that their patents are legit and will be calling no less than 10 other multi billion dollar tec companies who also used their patented technologies without paying for it.
2-4 months for a final ruling from the Judge then VHC will start going after/settling with the others who used the their tec without paying.
The major fight is over, in a few months the spoils of victory will follow.
Microsoft settles with VirnetX, to pay $200 mln
Microsoft takes license to patents, to pay $200 mln
* Microsoft had lost $105.75 mln verdict over two patents
NEW YORK, May 17 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) will pay $200 million to VirnetX Holding Corp (VHC.A) and obtain a patent license to settle litigation accusing it of infringing two patents for communicating over the Internet.
Both companies announced the settlement two months after a federal jury in Tyler, Texas on March 16 ordered Microsoft to pay $105.75 million to VirnetX for willful infringements, an amount that could have been tripled.
The settlement calls for Microsoft to take a license to VirnetX patents for Microsoft products. Other aspects of the settlement and license are not being disclosed.
Based in Scotts Valley, California, VirnetX develops software and technology for communications over the Internet.
The company lost $40.59 million from its inception on Aug. 2, 2005 through March 31, 2010, with revenue from royalties totaling $255,685, a May 7 regulatory filing shows.
Microsoft is based in Redmond, Washington, and is the world's largest software maker.
VirnetX shares closed Friday at $6.11 on the American Stock Exchange. Microsoft closed Friday at $28.93 on the Nasdaq.
The case is VirnetX Inc v. Microsoft Corp, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Texas, No. 07-00080.
Long time no chat forum friends! Been awhile since I've been here so lets start with a quick update on VHC, just over a year ago we sat at $6.11 today we're at $35.00. Did anyone stay on the train for this ride? Time to shake off the dust and get back to biznass, hope everyone has been well.
