IMAX - 3D Movie and TV
I was at Bestbuy this weekend to preview Samsung's 3D TV. It's pretty amazing. Don't know whether it's a fad or a trend for the future but it's worth exploring.
From my research, there are only a few way to play this.
IMAX - you have seen the movies, share price has been moving these days
DDD - trading in London and it's been on fire YTD as well
Sensio - Canadian Venture Exchange, cooling down recently
IMAX is my pick because it's the easier to trade. However I would love to get my hands on the patent industry and REAL D is private. So to those of you reading, I would appreciate expert insight on this growing fad/trend and hot stocks to play. Thanks.

Seems like anything to do with 3d is getting money these days
good coverage on EMAN (eMargin OTC) showcased the hunger for 3d
totally speculative and good luck to those who are in
After good showing by Avatar and Alice in Wonderland
Many 2D movies are coverting to 3D format just to cash in
I am still long on IMAX base on that fact
And I will be researching for more 3D computer graphic firms that does the transition from 2D to 3D...they will benefit big time from this trend
Montreal is the hotbed for 3D computer graphics
If you know any, please share thanks

Lucifer, probably far more complicated.............
Lucifer the 3D thing is for real but you have to define it a lot better, especially for particular applications.
Big pix it will probably break out who has the technology for particular applications / uses.
The consumer side of things is more up in the air IMHO at this point. Lots of hype, that was always the dream of holders of EMAN. Still not completely there in my book but getting a lot closer.
Lots of it goes back to the technology. Panel displays in particular, get pretty complicated. Cheap, high quality, very capable, long life displays are more a dream than a reality at this point. Many factors involved, aging problems, speed you can drive it at, exactly how it works. Many try the game, few actually succeed in producing a quality product. Info on EMAN's Website under the technical parts for some of what is involved.
EMAN is sort of unique in they have solved many of the problems and are patent protected for much of it. Their thing will be to get the price down and be able to expand the volume greatly. It is just starting. They will be able to continue to push the technology. Rumors in the last conference, (they ducked the question a bit) about a partnership with big techs to produce a down scale quality product for consumers. OLED on other material than silicon is questionable due to technical issues. Will work in some applications, is inferior to silicon based products. Rumors of other methods, most never make it out of the lab. EMAN has been at it for like 13 years, been a tough road in spots.
It will also break out along market segment lines. Lots and lots of commercial, industrial and military applications. EMAN prime markets so far have been in those areas. Typical device is in like the $8 - 15K range.
Names to know are probably like IMMR, IMAX and others. Understand what each is trying to do and their strong points. Money to be made in the right companies. EMAN is super with no debt and being able to get the research paid by others and do the improvements / expansions out of cash flow. Anybody else who can deliver in any form will also get hot quick. You do have to understand it at a technical and application type level tho. Some applications are so enhanced by 3D, just no going back.
Nobody probably can deliver a super quality 3D consumer product for cheap money at this time for in home use. Hasn't been for the lack of trying. Lots of folks have gone belly up in the process.
Another question / area sort of brushed over in the last EMAN conference was the subject of lighting. Not sure what that is all about yet. Some type of light bulb???? There is also conjecture that the technology could be reversed to receive and process light instead of emitting it. Lots of things to know and understand. Huge pay off if they get it right in all aspects. The bigger companies do not always win.
