Force Protection: Never Fall in Love with a Stock -- Seeking Alpha

i think you can Google, "never fall in love with a stock" and find countless things, a lot of investors here broke rule number 1. For those of you looking to make a quick buck after HEB you may want to rethink your strategy, you fell in love with HEB, i liked somx, invested at 2.00 however, i researched both sides of the wall, i saw the greats, and then i saw a ton of ugly's (including the effects of dopeximin. I did the ben franklin method, and found the bad's outweighed the goods, and that the writing was on the wall. Moral: people see bashers, and just label them off as bashers, however bashers do bring good ugly claims, they are like the third party in elections. I myself wasnt a basher, but when i read what these people would say on message boards, i realized their same beefs are the same conclusions i came up with. They are also the same ones the FDA probably came up with too.
happy investing, i hope you found a valuable lesson learned, and for those of you that had HEB and rode it to the sub dollar, it might be time to change somethings.

    Unhappy Somx

I don't think you are a basher, but I would like to know what gave you pause in your evaluation of Silenor.

I notice on the Wire about the CRL, that they did not indicate that the drug had met the long term efficacy req. for the "non elderly" population.

This is the only thing that I can see that would cause a decline. Everything else seems to be inline with an approval.

    1. No New Safety Concerns
    2. QT Interval concerns from the 1mg dose was removed
    3. Long Term (1 month efficacy) on elderly pop.

What else could it have been.

As I watch the stock, I see that it has moved up from its gapped down morning lows. There is some buying going on here. A lot actually.

I was thinking this thing would go sub .50. But its obviously not today.

    I got in @ 2.25 and got out @ 3.45.

When there was no news on Friday...I stayed out. Thankfully.

Somaxon has to get an approval by Summer or they are TOAST.

They have already said that they have enough money to make it through 1st half of 2010.

I think they are going to do everything in their power to get approval.

This makes me think twice I must say.

IF they get a meeting with the FDA and things start to look up, it may be a good stock to ride again.

Could this be a bargain buy here? Only time will tell.

the tell tale for me, was the fact they haven't had a partner yet, one of the few, if only with out a manufacturing facility and a partner. the other is reading how bad dopeximine is as compared to whats out there, thus the fda's recommendation on a pamphlet to go with each silinor. the institutional investors getting out on Thursday was proof enough for me. I felt another reason was how after the first denial, they stopped that type of dosage all together and really didn't do any different studies on the 2nd dosage. I feel bad, but i told everyone my thoughts and those reasons were going to lead to a delay(i didn't think complete denial would happen), however, on other discussions, they felt the purpose of the drug was reason enough to get it approved.

I'm out. I only had 200 pcs left and I sold. First time I took the profit, now a little loss. Overall I made profit but it has been a hard lesson. It's not easy to keep the sentiment out of the trading.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Everyone has bad trades, the key is to learn from them and move on to the next trade. IMO the answer to your question depends on several factors, i.e. what is you time horizon and tolerance for loss? These are questions only you can answer. Instead I will pose some questions of my own for you to ponder. If you have already lost that much why wait to lose more? Why would you invest more capital into a declining stock?

You should do short selling. That might help. However, pls understand the risk before doing anything.

Shorting requires having a margin account, which for many brokers means a minimum of 25K in the account and a good credit standing. Shorting is also riskier than outright purchasing shares, as you could end up loosing more than you initial investment. Also, if you thinks it's at bottom now is not the time to go short. However, looking at the one year chart, the next significant level of support is at the $1.00 mark.
