Default ACAD - ACADIA Pharmaceuticals Inc.- Pop up, anybody has any idea?

Today afternoon Acadia Pharmaceuticals ACAD break-out from $2.4 to $3.4, and went over $4 after hours. There is no news came out. Their PIII results will be released at the end of 3Q. Anybody has any insight?

Apparently they will be releasing late stage results on one of their new drugs within the third quarter. As a general rule, drugs that make it to phase 3 of the trials stand a good chance of getting approved as most of the "bugs" are usually exposed during the first two phases of drug trials.

Default A large options-trade led to the jump

Still no "news", however, a larger-than-average 5,000-lot Sept 5/7.5-call-vertical bought Friday at around 11 AM seems to be the trigger (the stock was trading around $2.70 just prior to the trade-print) which drew a great deal of interest into the stock...

    Default Arcadia Pharm

This probably has been already discussed but what is the general consensus for Arcadia Pharm's upcoming phase III trial results, will we see a jump from the 4-5$ range to the 8-10$ range? Its got a lot of call option activity right now...

    Thanks

Default Regarding the PIII results and price

Adam Feuerstein from TheStreet has an article discussing the PIII results and the PPS afterwords:

"An analyst for a healthcare hedge fund who follows psychiatric drug companies closely (but who has no position in Acadia) says a positive result from the pimavanserin study would likely push Acadia shares to $8 to $9. A negative outcome drops Acadia shares back down to net cash, or around $1.50 a share.

He gives the study a 35% chance for success, which means the stock's recent run-up makes shares a bit expensive from a risk-reward perspective."

I got in and out of ACAD twice with a 12% profit last week and let that article scare me off. I sold a bunch of stuff too soon last Thursday. I didn't and don't know enough about ACAD to do any more than gamble on the crazy volume.

ACAD is in partnership with BIOVAIL. Pimavanserin is a new chemical entity (NCE) currently in Phase III development as a treatment for Parkinson's disease psychosis.
Under the terms of the collaboration, ACADIA is entitled to receive aggregate payments, excluding royalties, of up to $395 million. These include an upfront cash payment of $30 million, up to $160 million in potential milestone payments associated with the successful completion of clinical trials, regulatory submissions and approvals of pimavanserin for PDP and ADP, up to $45 million in potential milestones should the parties pursue a third indication, and up to $160 million in potential milestones as certain sales thresholds are met.

Heading back up, but I think it's a dead cat bounce.

acad was huge disappointment. I do not understand why the partner would come in without any knowledge of the test results! This is a long term stock at this point. Another trial is expected to be completed mid next year. The secondary endpoint was met so there's definately potential and they have more then enough capital to tough though it.
