    Default Miss Muffet Says "Hello"

I have been investing for 10 years or so. I have been regretting it for about 9
years and have been appreciating it for about 9 months, during which time I have wiped away the previous 9 years of regret with profits in Dendreon (DNDN). Interestingly enough their top candidate is just now on the cusp of approval. The key phrase as someone once said on another board is, "Patience and patients." Most of my profits are still on paper. However, I have ploughed some of the profits into other candidates.

My number one choice after Dendreon is Vical, Inc. Their technology is on a DNA platform and their research is concentrated mainly in vaccines. They also have an angiogensis candidate for PAD.

NDA for PAD filed in Japan (waiting for approval).
Melanoma vaccine PHIII (enrollment completed and results expected next few months)
    H1N1 flu vaccine....H5N1 flu vaccine
    CMV vaccine (recently completed PHII)

Other up and coming biotechs are on my radar screen. After a wild ride with Dendreon and much due diligence, I almost feel at home in the biotech sector.

    Good luck and happy hunting!

I must apologize for not putting the obvious caveat in my introductory post. I will do so now.

Things I have learned (or think I've learned) about the biotech sector:

    1. Never invest in a biotech IPO. (I never have, thank goodness)

    2. Be assured, you will lose some money!

    3. Be confident that with due diligence and much studying you can make money.

    4. Try very hard to make more money than you lose.

    5. Always remember biotech is very risky. Baby biotechs are extremely risky.

    6. Biotech is the quintessence of risk/reward.

    7. Hedgefunds like to short little biotechs.

Now, I think I've covered most of the bases. If you have the stomach for it and the stamina for it, then go ahead and enjoy the good feeling that comes from being a part of something that can benefit mankind in a very meaningful way.

    Default Welcome

    Hello,

While I suspect that most of the members here have been investing less than ten years, I hope you will find the discussion here lively and informative. We have members from all over and are open to discussions on any type of stock, however we do seem to be heavily weighted towards the biotech sector; probably the free FDA calendar. Welcome to the community!
