US Economy: 5 Reasons Why America is a BUY
Summary:
Everyday I hear another reason why there might be a "double dip" recession. Today I laughed when a friend said he was still bearish on the US economy. I laughed because when I asked for a "new" reason or the "unforeseen" variable why they were bearish they had nothing to say...just silence. Over the next five days I'll tell you why you should be bullish on the US economy while the majority remain bearish and keep their heads in the sand like an ostrich.
Reason 1: Corporate Earnings Start
Oracle BLEW OUT earnings expectations, revenue growth expectations, and forecasting estimates! Yes it blew them out with a capital B. The reality is Oracle is making it rain the "benjamins" like no tomorrow and it's an American based multi-national firm. If the US and the world at large were going down in a fire ball Oracle wouldn't have provided positive guidance along with amazing quarterly numbers. This firm is telling us that the pulse of the US and the world is getting stronger.
RIMM the maker of Blackberry topped forecasts and issued a stronger outlook for the current period than the market was expecting. I actually refreshed my internet browser to make sure I was reading the results properly. In case you weren't aware RIMM has been getting its you know what handed to it by Apple's Iphone and Google Droid in the smart phone space. Regardless, I understand that beating profit expectations and providing positive guidance means good things for the US.
Take Away Point:
If this is just a sample of what's coming for American earnings season this is definitely a reason to be bullish. That doesn't mean I don't see the head winds in the world but I'm still objective enough to understand what strong profit and revenue growth means for the US economy. Come back tomorrow and check out Reason 2 on why everyone should be bullish on the US economy.
