I really like TDAmeritrade as well. I giving it a try (while trading with another broker) but now I think I am ready to switch over all my stocks over to TD.
i just transferred out of tdameritrade, and i've been with them since they were Daytek and Ameritrade bought them out. i never had any problems, until finding out that i was getting charged a $100 Foreign Security Fee every time i made a trade, buy and sell both. i never knew that was happening, and only found out thanks to a poster mentioning it on the yahoo board for byddf. the only way you can see the Fee is by checking your Monthly Statements. i was stunned looking at all the Fees i never knew they were taking. i did talk to them first before transferring, but their explanation didn't hold water a bunch of posters replied on that Thread, and the result was TDAmer was charging $100, Fidelity $50, and the others like Etrade, ScotTrade, and some others mentioned here, had No Fee like this, just the regular commission. So, anyone with TDAmer, i suggest you check your Monthly's, the FEE is for any Foreign based stock, only US & Canadian stocks are not charged
I love Ameritrade and I have been with them since 2003.
They bought ThinkorSwim and they are allowing us to use their platform now. It is wonderful and I hope others are using it. It has a live stream of CNBC video, also.
They have other software including Options360 and Strategy Desk. But nothing compares to ThinkorSwim. I have two monitors and it is great and what I always wanted.
i was with TDAmer since Dayteck was bought out by them, must be well over 10 years. it was only recently that i transferred out, and that's because i found out i was getting charges of $100 and $15, listed as Foreign Security Fee, for each Buy and Sell on stocks other than US & Canadian. And most of my holdings are China, Asia, Brazil, based. i only found this out via someone posting on a yahoo message board. and i had no idea this was happening. the only way to see is to go into your Monthly Account Statements, and check. what really got me was that other brokers weren't doing this, only Fidelity, and they were charging $50
