What are some good picks for a guy who is not a big time trader, but just a small newbie investor? Have a full time job and a family and don't have hours to do research on every company.

Thanks,
I'm pretty new and learning. Bought a few stocks after looking at some boards and a little research. Took a little risk. Bought some HEB and CTIC and GE.
I figure GE is a dividend stock, so it won't skyrocket like the smaller ones, but the dividend will help offset the stock not gaining value for a while.
What I'm really looking for is some stocks to load up on now while they are presumably cheap, and in a few years when the economy recovers have a pretty healthy portfolio. So I am in it Long, not a day trader

I've also got HEB and waiting for the FDA decision along with some GE and C that will hopefully be two good long-term stocks.

I would consider TSTR, SPPI and RFMD. All have short and long term possibilities and all are considered undervalued. The only wildcard is SPPI, they have a pending FDA approval that was recently delayed after the FDA requested additional information regarding the FIT Study. The drug they are pushing has a high probability for approval since it is already approved, but SPPI is requesting it for use as a front line treatment for cancer so it is not far off the beaten path for heavy skepticism as a whole new drug would be.
TSTR just launched a private communications satellite which will work with their own cel phone. The kicker is that they cell phone they will be selling will be capable of utilizing the normal cell towers, but would have the significant benefit of using the satellite uplink when out of area and no network is available. If you travel any at all you will know that their are substantial areas where no coverage is available despite the pretty maps the cell companies throw at you when pitching you to sign up with them.
RFMD is a market leader in RF technology selling to cell phone maker, the military etc. The kicker here is that this is an industry that has recently gained momentum despite the economy that is languishing. I for one will let me home phone go before my cell phone and nearly everyone gets a new phone at least every two years if not sooner. So this is a rock solid opportunity with a ton of long term potential. It has recently been ID'd as undervalued so get in now while the gettin is good.
I have positions in all these companies and am looking forward to some exciting times in the next few weeks and months.
Good trading!!!
