    Default Stock Advise - Newbie

    Hello,

I am very new to overall stocks and stuff. I was just curious to know if following FDA Calendar is just enough to have an edge in trading. I believe there got to be other info too. Please advise a good starting point.

    Thanks

Are paid subscriptions more informative than free one's? Just wanted to understand the logistics behind it.

While it can be debated whether one can truly ever have an "edge" in trading, information is the most valuable commodity.

My suggestion would be to start here: Investopedia.com - Your Source For Investing Education
And learn the basics of the different types of investing/trading and how the markets and trading works. The following two things I would recommend deciding before you start playing with real money:

    - Define how your approach to investing/trading (i.e. value, long term, day-trader).
    - Define your risk tolerance (i.e. Am I willing to risk $1 to make $2?).

While you can always change your trading/investing style and tolerance for risk, but not having a solid foundation for either will only lead to disaster.

Finally, I would recommend that you read everything you can handle about the style of investing you choose and fully understand how it works before risking any money.
